Reduce The Risk

Combating the pressure of alcohol, tobacco, vaping, and other drugs.
This parent/child interactive workshop teaches about the dangers of alcohol, vaping, and other drugs while focusing on attitude change, values clarification, role playing, and skill building to resist this common pressure.

What People Are Saying:

We signed our 8th kids up for this discussion, after we found out our kids had been vaping and drinking. Since teenagers don’t always listen to their parents, we decided to have Jennifer come and do a class. It was interactive, kids worked together for part of the time, there is a breakout session to interview your parent/child 1:1 and kids role play ways to pass on drugs, when offered. It didn’t feel like a scare tactic for the kids, it was more informative and helped kids understand that no one knows the long term effects of vaping and why it’s so dangerous. I wish we would have signed up for the class when the kids were in 7th grade.

Today's pressures are more complicated compared to when we were growing up. When our 13 year old son became involved in a group that was experimenting with vaping and drinking, my husband and I knew if we tried to educate him on the possible life-threatening outcomes of his behavior, he wouldn't listen. We immediately arranged for Jen to give her Reduce the Risk talk to the group of 13 year old friends. She tailored it to focus on vaping nicotine, marajuna and drinking. The Talk is exactly what we needed to have a continued dialog in our house about the risks of nicotine, marijuana and drinking. The information was factual and clear, the interaction of questions & answers made sure the teens understood the facts and role playing allowed the teens to practice how to say "no." The most important outcome is the Reduce the Risk talk has allowed me to have honest conversations with my son moving forward and he now quotes back to me how he will say "no" today and in the future. I highly recommend having Jen's Reduce the Risk talk before your kids are caught engaging in risky behavior.
